Family › Births Six and Seven
I've just about decided that the law of averages doesn't apply in my case. Reason is that when there was a new arrival in our family last Thursday morning it turned out to be a boy, making six on the masculine side and only one on the feminine.
Just for the record his name is to be Brendan Thomas. I haven't quite decided whether it was thoughtful of him to wait until the day after The Press was published or that he didn't have the foresight to time his arrival in order to make the deadline last week. Ennahoo, we're glad to have him no matter when he comes.
Getting back to this business of our family running to boys, it is interesting to note that Mrs. Cub comes from a family of six girls and one boy. We have now reversed that in our cozy little group. So that in itself should even the score a bit.
Not only that, but among Mrs. Cub's sisters and brother who have children the trend is toward boys, also. This latest addition brings the total to 18 boys and 5 girls.
I wasn't even around when the previous little fellow arrived three years ago. At that time I was on a navel cruise and didn't know what we had until he was two weeks old and I received a telegram on the ship advising me of his birth. That's the easy way to avoid pacing the corridors.
At about the time this youngster put in his appearance I guess I was sprawled out dozing on the couch in the hospital waiting room. Not that I'm getting blasé about this thing, even though it has happened seven times. But I had already done a bit of pacing around and it was a three-hour wait, so I guess by that time I had dozed off.
